Z.S.S PARALYZER GUN

This is the Paralyzer gun (a.k.a Emergency gun) from the Metroid serie, the iconic weapon of the the main character Samus in her Zero Suit form. This was designed based on official artwork from Metroid: Other M, as well as in-game screenshots from Super Smash Bros WiiU.

Since here the object already existed in a virtual form, the challenge was to turn the virtual object into a material one, and solve all the problems resulting from it: modeling the object in a constructive way, without losing it’s visual identity; choosing a shape and an assembly concept according to its use; adapting conception to the planned production method; prototyping, and solving the defects appearing during production; conceiving a simple and visually attractive assembly instructions; etc.

This was designed in multiple parts not just for printing on small desktop 3D printers, but also, and mainly, to simplify the painting process: since each part is a single color, no precision painting skill is required, each part can simply be spray painted the right color, and all parts can be assembled afterwards, with no need to worry about alignment or anything else thanks to little pegs that give a perfect fit.

Copyright disclaimer: This is a personnal project, and I only claim copyright on my own work (3D models, props, pictures, artworks, and anything else that I have personnally produced during the course of this project. The copyright for the concept of the "Paralyzer gun" from "Metroid" belongs to Nintendo. I am in no way associated to Nintendo.

I printed only a few of these for testing and photoshooting purposes.

I do consider requests from fellow fans who would like to buy one for cosplay or display purposes, so feel free to contact me about it, but please be aware of the following:

- I make a piece on demand, which takes some time, so plan ahead if it's for a convention.

- Shipping takes time, so plan ahead if it's for a convention.

- I only print the pieces. Assembly and painting will be your job, so plan ahead if it's for a convention.

- Don't bother asking me for the 3D file so you can print it on your/your friend/the school workshop/whatever 3D printer you have access to. My files are personnal and I don't share them, for a variety of reasons ;)
